Introduction¶
This section of the wiki will cover the 'Products', a term created by the platform team to logically distinguish the different component deliverables of the platform, for an easier overview and life-cycle management.
As the vendor Confluent and underlying technology Kafka are continuously pushing new features out, it has been a key focus to have a highly automated setup infrastructure-as-code, pipelines and automated testing, in order to keep releasing new features while being in control and have a modern operational foundation.
Vision¶
The platform service is coined KaaS - Kafka as a Service. The service aims to enable Event Driven Integration (EDA) and accelerated development of messaging and stream processing use-cases, by providing a qualified and highly automated infrastructure and development process methodology.
The key principles driving the platform vision anchored in FAIR; Findability, Accessibility, Interoperability and Reusability. - Schemas and Topics (not data records themselves) are discoverable across Novo Nordisk in the stream catalog - Schemas and Topics can be tagged and described for better understanding and categorization - Topics are designed to be consumed by multiple entities - and more can easily be added - Guides, best practices, templates and other documentation is provided as self-service by the platform team, and continuously updated based on input from delivery teams.
Overview¶
The Product section contains three subsections; - Requirement Specification outlining the requirements behind the platform and referencing the specific descriptions. - Solution Designs high-level describing the different products - components - of the platform, showcasing traceability between requirements and design, and further referencing detailed technical documentation - Test Traceability giving an overview of the relation between products, requirements, test cases and test plans.
